About ThroughTheirEyes.ai

Bringing family history to life — with care, accuracy, and respect.

ThroughTheirEyes.ai is a simple idea with deep roots:
what if you could have a conversation with someone from your own family tree?

Not a chatbot.
Not a caricature.
But a historically grounded ancestor persona shaped by real genealogical data, speaking in the voice of their time and place.

Our mission is to help people experience their family history in a way that is meaningful, emotionally resonant, and ethically safe.

A Note from the Founder

Why this project exists at all.

I've been a genealogy hobbyist for nearly fifteen years. Like many people in this field, I've spent countless nights deep in archives, databases, and GEDCOM files trying to piece together the lives of people I'll never meet.

What always struck me was how much of family history lives in the silences—the parts the records don't capture.

When I began experimenting with AI personas in early 2025, I never imagined it would intersect with my genealogy work. But as the technology matured, it became clear that AI could help us explore those silences in a way that felt human, emotionally honest, and grounded in real historical context.

ThroughTheirEyes.ai was born from that intersection:
the rigor of genealogy and the expressive power of AI — held together by a strong commitment to privacy, respect, and historical accuracy.

Why ThroughTheirEyes Exists

We believe genealogy is not just a hobby.
It's a way of understanding who we are, where we come from, and how our ancestors lived, worked, and survived.

ThroughTheirEyes.ai was created because:

  • Historical records are often sparse.
  • Family stories get lost within a generation or two.
  • Many people never get to hear the voices of their great-grandparents, let alone ancestors further back.

AI can't replace real memories or genuine oral history.

But it can help us explore the past with more texture, empathy, and immediacy.

Our goal is to build an experience that deepens connection — not replaces truth.

What We Believe

1. Privacy Comes First

We never recreate living individuals or anyone close to living memory. Your uploaded GEDCOM is encrypted, stays your property, and can be deleted anytime.

2. Facts Matter

Births, deaths, relationships, and documented events must remain faithful to real data. No AI-generated "new relatives," no fictional marriages, no fabricated tragedies.

3. Inference Should Be Transparent

We distinguish clearly between:

  • [P#]Provenance markers — grounded in your GEDCOM or enrichment packs
  • [AI]Inference markers (coming soon) — when the model adds contextual colour

4. History Deserves Respect

Every persona is framed as an interpretive simulation, not a literal reconstruction. We treat ancestors—real or synthetic—with dignity.

5. Technology Should Feel Human

The experience should evoke the rhythms, dialects, and worldview of the time. But never mislead or claim knowledge that isn't historically grounded.

Who We're Building This For

ThroughTheirEyes.ai is designed for:

  • Genealogy hobbyists with years of research
  • Family historians preserving stories for future generations
  • People with small trees wanting to explore cultural and regional history
  • Professional genealogists who value provenance and source transparency
  • Anyone curious about the lived experience behind their family records

Whether you know ten generations or two, the goal is the same:
to bring the past a little closer.

Behind the Scenes

ThroughTheirEyes.ai is built on the Kreujo.ai™ persona engine and supported by I4HUM, drawing on decades of experience across knowledge systems, genealogy, AI, data pipelines, and historical analysis.

We're a small team with a big belief:
technology can help us honour the past — not distort it.
